5 Reasons to Get Married in the Off Season

December, January & February, the months that we refer to as the “off season”, are the least desired months to get married. They are close to the holidays, they have colder weather, it gets darker sooner etc. We totally get it. It’s more desirable to say “I do” with the sun shining, lush greenery, outdoors with the Spanish moss hanging above. However, there are many benefits to getting married during these months, particularly for the couples who are looking to save money, making sure all of their guests can attend, while not sweating to death in the Southern humidity.

1. VENDOR AVAILABILITY

There are so many incredible wedding vendors in Savannah, which only means one thing…they book up FAST, especially with all of the postponed weddings from COVID that are now being rescheduled. The off season months give you a higher chance of booking your favorite vendors without competition.

2. COOLER WEATHER

Savannah is known for its unpredictable weather, but one thing is for sure…it gets HOT in the spring & summer months, not to mention the addition of humidity. From December to February, you can almost guarantee a drop in temperature that will be a relief for you & your guests.

3. CHEAPER TRAVEL

Travel costs might limit how many of your guests can be there on your special day. The off season months tend to have cheaper options for those guests needing to fly in.

4. EXPERIMENT WITH DECOR

The winter months allow you to branch out with color & decor, to stray away from the common wedding themes you see during peak wedding season. You can use darker, richer colors with velvet, satin or other textured elements that make a wedding look luxurious, whereas those things might be too heavy for a summer or fall wedding.

5. UNIQUE ANNIVERSARY

Less weddings during the off season means less couples will have anniversary dates during the same time. Although this may seem like a small perk compared to the others, it would make your yearly celebrations that much more special, having that time all to yourselves.
