Easiest Pinterest-Worthy 4th of July Party

Nicole, owner of Ivory & Beau, here. Single mom, business owner, busy, busy, busy is probably the biggest understatement of the year. That being said, one of my absolute favorite things is hosting a good party with good company... but like hosting a party that is also super cute truly. I guess it makes sense now why I fell in love with all things event planning and flowers, eh?

So when my friend and I started talking about the 4th of July, we couldn't stop ourselves from planning a cute little party that was easy, brainless, quick, and filled with the perfect amount of light treats for hot summer days and delicious cocktails for enjoying by the pool. Of course, we had to add flowers, and these arrangements were the perfect combination of red, white, blue, and a touch of gold for that Americana pride that is an absolute must on the 4th.

The only things missing? Hot dogs, bikinis, and the rest of our friends.

Either way, here's some inspiration for the easiest Pinterest-worthy 4th of July party you can throw together even while your toddlers are quite literally running through the house, asking for snacks every three minutes, and somehow screaming at a volume that defies science.

Keep the Decorations Simple

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make when planning parties is overcomplicating everything.

You do not need custom signs. You do not need themed plates for every course. You do not need to spend three days crafting something you'll throw away next week.

Instead, focus on a few statement pieces.

For our setup, we kept everything clean and simple:

  • Red, white, and blue florals

  • Fresh fruit displayed beautifully

  • A few coordinating serving pieces

  • Gold accents to elevate the patriotic color palette

  • Plenty of ice-cold drinks

That's it.

The flowers immediately made everything feel intentional while the food itself became part of the décor.

The Perfect Poolside Menu

When it's 95 degrees outside and everyone is either at the beach or sitting poolside, the last thing anyone wants is a heavy meal.

We focused on foods that were refreshing, colorful, and easy to grab between cannonballs and conversations.

Think:

  • Fresh watermelon slices

  • Strawberries and blueberries

  • Caprese skewers

  • A simple charcuterie board

  • Chips and dip

  • Mini sandwiches

  • Popsicles for the kids (and let's be honest, the adults too)

The goal is easy entertaining—not spending the entire party stuck in the kitchen.

A Cocktail With a Little Bite

My favorite summer cocktails always have a balance of refreshing and just enough kick to keep things interesting. And if you ask anybody who knows me, a spicy margarita is my go-to. But when it’s summertime!? We’ve obviously got to add a touch of the perfect summertime fruit… And that is where watermelon gets to make it’s dazzling appearance not just on the apps but also making a splash.

Fresh watermelon juice, tequila, fresh lime juice, a touch of agave nectar or simple syrup and my absolute favorite ingredient… the jalapeños muddled in agave makes for the truly best drink you can enjoy by the pool and on a hot day. What I love is how light and refreshing this drink is plus it just truly tastes so fresh when the watermelon juice and lime juice are hand muddled to perfection. I personally love something with a kick but for those who can’t handle the heat, skip the jalapeños & tahine on the rim for a little sweeter drink.

For guests who prefer something lighter, a blueberry lemonade spritzer is equally delicious and just as pretty…

And for the guests underage, can you really do a Fourth of July party without Coca-Cola?!!?!? And cherry Coca-Cola?!?!!? Even better. I am here for this.

The Flower Recipe

Let's talk flowers because obviously that's my favorite part… and the adorable arrangements we made were in these fun little tin buckets. But truly I think you could do any sort of vase or vessel. My best recommendation? Hit up Dollar Tree or Target’s front section for some affordable options. Or… better yet, use some cups or glasses you already have as a vase.

Instead of leaning into overly themed patriotic arrangements, we wanted something that felt elevated, summery, and effortless.

Our recipe included:

  • White garden roses

  • White lisianthus

  • Blue delphinium

  • Blue thistle

  • Red spray roses

  • Red ranunculus

  • Gold-painted foliage accents

The touch of gold made all the difference. It softened the traditional red, white, and blue palette and gave everything a slightly more sophisticated feel while still feeling festive and fun.

Because let's be honest—if we're going to put flowers on the table, they might as well steal the show.

The Real Secret

The older I get, the more I realize that people rarely remember the decorations, the menu, or whether every detail was perfect.

They remember how they felt.

They remember laughing until their stomach hurt.

They remember their kids jumping in the pool for the hundredth time.

They remember sitting outside long after sunset because nobody wanted the day to end.

So if you're planning a 4th of July gathering this year, don't stress about perfection. Grab some flowers, throw together a few simple snacks, mix a great cocktail, and invite people you love.

That's really what makes a beautiful party anyway. I cannot wait to bring our true Fourth of July celebrations to life… and luckily now, we’re all set with the perfect recipes. Just add hot dogs.

Happy Fourth of July, friends. ❤️🤍💙
